Tan Sri Halim Saad is new Pro-Chancellor of UTeM

It gives us great pleasure to extend our warmest congratulations to Tan Sri Halim Saad (C’70, Sulaiman) on his appointment as the Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) from 15 January 2021 until 14 January 2024.

Currently, Tan Sri Halim Saad is the Executive Vice Chairman of Sumatec Resources Berhad.

He obtained his Bachelor of Commerce and Administration from Victoria University of Wellington.

Tan Sri Halim Saad began his career with Ford Motor Co. (Singapore) in 1978 and later joined Peremba Berhad as Corporate Service Manager. In 1986, Tan Sri Halim Saad assumed the position of Executive Vice-Chairman of United Engineers (M) Berhad until 2001. From 1990 to 1993, he served as Executive Vice-Chairman of Projek Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan Bhd (PLUS), The New Straits Times Press (M) Berhad and Sistem Televisyen (M) Berhad. Tan Sri Halim Saad was the Executive Vice-Chairman of Kinta Kellas Public Listed Company, Faber Group Berhad and Renong Berhad from 1990 to 2001.

He was conferred the Honorary Doctorate in Science by University Putra Malaysia, Honorary Doctorate in Management by University of Technology, Malaysia, Honorary Award for Distinguished Service from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, Honorary Fellowship by Institute of Landscape Architect Malaysia, Bilateral Aid Award by New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pingat Jasa Cemerlang (Glorious Service Medal) by the Malaysia Association of Youth Clubs (MAYC), and Honorary Business Doctorate from Victoria University of Wellington.

He was awarded the Darjah Panglima Setia Mahkota National Award, which carries the ‘Tan Sri’ title.
