KUALA KANGSAR: The century-old Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) is known for high academic achievements but the institution must chart new frontiers to retain them, said Raja Muda of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah.
The college had created history with its past glories, he said.
“However, to achieve new heights, it must be brave enough to cross new frontiers and to be willing to change when the need arises,” he said.
He said the college was matured enough to try out more contemporary approaches and methods in their programmes.
The Raja Muda was speaking at the speech and prize-giving day of the college here yesterday.
The Raja Muda, who is also MCKK board chairman, said the government must also be brave enough to launch an educational programme that was recognised worldwide.
A curriculum such as the International Baccalaureate should be introduced to students at local institutions, he added.
MCKK principal Mohd Rauhi Mohd Isa, who also attended the event, said the students achieved 100% passes in English and Living Skills in last year’s PMR.
“Sixty-eight of our PMR students achieved 8As,” he said, adding that for SPM, 27 MCKK students obtained 10As and 15 students got 9As.
He added that the college would step up efforts to achieve better results this year.
Earlier, Raja Nazrin inspected a guard of honour mounted by MCKK cadets.
