It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of YM Tengku Khairil Ashraf bin Tengku Dato’ Sri Asmawi, Class of 1991 Sulaiman House; on 15 July 2018 at his home in Kuantan, Pahang.
He was the No.8 for the MCKK All Blacks team in 1991 and a member of the College’s Cadets Corp. He was also a cheerleader. True to his roots, being the second son of the late singer Dato’ Rafeah Buang, he was active in the artistic scene at the Malay College through his involvement in the Arts Club and playing the rhythm guitar in one of the college bands in the early 90s. He had an elder brother, Tengku Ahmad Ashraf, Class of 1989.
Tonque, as he was known; had the natural ability to make people gravitates towards him, making people at ease with his unassuming character despite his royal upbringing.
He was a businessman earlier in his life. He left behind three children, two daughters and a son; from two previous marriages. We call upon all MCOBs to recite AlFatihah for his dearly departed soul.
