Dr. Ahmad Fadzil bestowed ‘Datuk’ title in conjunction with Agong’s birthday

Heartiest congratulations to Prof Ir Dr Ahmad Fadzil Mohamad Hani (C’77, Ahmad) for being bestowed the Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN) award, which carries the title ‘Datuk’, in conjunction with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah’s birthday.

Prof Ir Dr Ahmad Fadzil Mohamad Hani started his career as a Fellow and Lecturer at the School of Engineering Sciences & Industrial Technology, University of Science, Malaysia (USM). In February 1988, he was the Senior Research Officer of the Image Processing Group at the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering, University of Essex, UK and undertook research funded by the UK Government – Alvey Programme.

He continued to serve USM until 1997, when he became the Dean of Engineering Studies & Senior Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). He was then appointed as the Director of Academic Studies and also Postgraduate Studies at UTP and led strategic and budget planning cycle for Academic Division and Postgraduate Division at UTP.

He was also the General Manager of Frontier Technology at PETRONAS Research Sdn Bhd (Aug 2007- Sept 2009) and led the R&D on Frontier/Renewables Technologies under PETRONAS Technology Agenda (solar, hydrogen, green technologies). He then continued his service at UTP holding several senior posts which include Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) and Head, Centre for Intelligent Signal and Imaging Research. As the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research & Innovation (March 2016-April 2017), he led the university’s research and innovation division before joining SIRIM as President & Group Chief Executive.

Presently, he is also the Board Director of Prince Court Medical Centre Sdn Bhd and a Board Director (Non-Independent Non-Exec) of ViTrox Corporation Bhd, a public listed on Bursa Malaysia Main Board.
